The first annual Morgan Stanley Team Tennis Clay Court Challenge, to benefit the SD Tennis Hall of Fame Endowment, was held June 27-28, 2008. It was a roaring success, with over 100 participants competing. The net result was over $5,000 raised for the programs of the SD Tennis Hall of Fame.

Eight teams comprised of men and women ages 30 and up competed on the clay courts of Westward Ho and Minnhehaha Country Clubs, in singles and doubles. The winning team was captained by Mignonne Swebach and Jamie Volin, the "Volinteers."

Principal sponsors were the Barnes Demore group of Morgan Stanley, AIG, TransAmerica and Volin's Racquet and Soccer. The invitational event was headed up by Don and Kate Barnes and Thad Barnes with several other volunteer helpers. Some changes are planned for 2009 with hopes to involve even more players from around South Dakota. The event was capped by a terrific banquet with presentation of awards.
